The Rising Star award is a special designation for fast-growth technology companies that have been in business just three or four years and is part of the New York Technology Fast 50 program, which ranks the 50 fastest growing technology companies headquartered in the state. Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over three or four years (2001-2004).

Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify.
